Tool Kit

They say a good craftsman never blames his tools. Clearly, this was written when marketplaces were still in town squares.

In the age of the modern marketplace, we say a good craftsperson is only as good as their tools, because creating high-quality listings in an efficient way is a nearly impossible task if you don’t have the right tools at your disposal. Thanks to eCommeleon, you now have access to 10 comprehensive “mapping” tools, which you can use to create, optimise and validate your data in line with the requirements set by your target sales channel(s).

These tools are designed to guide you through the data creation process regardless of your target channel, meaning that you only need to learn this one intuitive process rather than a new one for everywhere you want to sell your products. Furthermore, this allows you to onboard new staff quicker without them having to learn marketplace protocols or complicated Excel formulae.

Attributes

 The attributes tool allows you to find out which attributes are available for your products and assign as much information to your listings as possible.

No need to check for the latest valid values on the marketplace documentation as the tool provides up-to-date information. This helps avoid listing errors whilst improving the way marketplace search algorithms display your products.

Lookup Lists

Use ours, or build your own. Lookup lists allow you to quickly map one set of value(s) into another; ideal for colours or sizing charts.

Our advanced lookup list functionality allows you to map multiple columns which means you can use several values in order to populate your output, such as using a different sizing chart for different brands or product types.

Price Builder

Price builder allows you to build complex rules to apply pricing for every product on every export channel, factoring in as many or as few rules and variations as you require.

An example of this would be to create prices based on exchange rates, marketplace fees, a standard mark-up and a rounding rule (e.g. to the nearest .49/.99).

Keywords

Create your own keywords based on your product information, or use our keywords suggestions and dictionaries.

This tool suggests fitting keywords based on your product browse tree nodes, both for the domestic and international Amazon platforms.

Create Manually

The “create manually” tool allows you to create your own output values in bulk using free text or values previously defined in a list.

Categories

Use this tool to easily find the best matching categories for your products. Access all browsing structures for all marketplaces from one single tool, and use intuitive filter and search features to efficiently categorise your products.

String Builder

Use easy drag and drop functionality to build your output values based on the attributes of your choice.

For example:

Parent Title = {Brand} – {Gender}’s {Material} {Product Type}

= Nike – Men’s Cotton T-Shirt

Child Title = {Parent Title} – {Colour} – {Size}

= Nike – Men’s Cotton T-Shirt – Blue – Small

= Nike – Men’s Cotton T-Shirt – Blue – Medium

This tool also includes lookup lists: use the translated lookup list values to create your international listings with the same method.

(Sub)templates

For some marketplaces such as Amazon or CDiscount, the attributes and valid values depend on the (sub)template, feed product type or main category the product is listed in.

This tool allows you to assign (sub)templates to all of your products and, throughout your project, eCommeleon will suggest the correct valid values based on this.

Export-import

This tool allows you to export a file to Excel, work on data there, and then re-import it.

This can be useful in several ways, particularly if you want to add information which was not available at the beginning of the project such as image URLs.

Rather than starting the project from scratch, you can export an identifying source column (such as SKUs), add new data to the project in your spreadsheet and re-upload.

Copy-Paste

This tool is used in situations where no optimisation or adaptation is needed for a particular value.

An example of this would be the product identifier (SKU), or the brand name, both of which would usually be the same on all channels but might have different column headers or formatting based on the output channel.
